By now, a lot of you have already seen this, but I haven’t really had a chance to talk about it since my fight.
Director, Ian McFarland (http://mcfarlandandpecci.com/) is a personal friend of mine. And even before I met him, I was listening to his band, Blood for Blood. A lot of you have seen the tattoos on the sides of my legs, which is their logo. Their music is always part of my training camp playlist motivation.
Ian has an amazing knack for capturing, on film, the truth behind a person, their motivation, and their reason for existence. We spent many hours just having frank conversations about what drives a fighter and the emotions involved in the fight game. Nobody likes to lose a fight, but someone has to. That person has been me for four fights. This documentary is a reflection of a fighter who was feeling the pressure of that.
At the end of the night, when your fans are smiling and your hand is raised in that cage, it’s all worth it. And that is how I felt this past Saturday. Thank you to the fans and to Ian for being a part of my life this year. I wouldn’t change it for anything.

The East Lake Pet Orphanage in Dallas, Texas has named Dan the recipient of it’s annual “Kramer Award”, given in outstanding recognition for animal welfare activism. He will be receiving the award on May 5th, 2012. The award, and others, will be given at East Lake’s 10th Annual “Wine on the Roof” Soirée with food, prizes, a silent auction, and more!
Please visit East Lake Pet Orphanage’s website for more information: http://www.elpo.org
From the Outlaw:
I am honored to be receiving such an award. I know that many people right now are deserving of such an award, even some other UFC fighters. America is in economic hard times, and unfortunately, pets that were once family members are becoming luxury items that people can do without. Spaying and neutering pets has also dropped on the priority list for a lot of families, which is just adding the problem. We have rescued a few “recession” cats over the past few years. Some were malnourished, and some badly injured. We took them in, fixed them up, and found them homes through friends and social media. I would love to have pets myself; however, my job demands I travel so much, that it wouldn’t be fair to an animal. So right now, I am in the process of being an approved foster home for sick cats and young kittens that need socialization. That way, I can at least have pets on an interim basis, while helping the shelters to get them adopted.
East Lake Pet Orphanage is just one of the many shelters across the country that need your help! Although I’m not from Dallas, it doesn’t make the animals there any less important. They still need homes and your help.
Cheers,
the Outlaw

What: The Las Vegas Metro Police 21st Annual K-9 Trials
Yes, you read that right, I will be getting attacked by a trained K-9 Police dog. I have met some of the dogs this week, and let me tell you, they are no joke. I will showing the audience just how effective these dogs can be when following commands in high pressure police situations. K-9 teams will be in from all over the world competing in obedience, agility, and handler protection. I personally cannot wait to see this, since I have already gotten a sneak peak of what our local dogs can do!
Hello Outlaw Army!
As some of you may know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Whether you are a survivor, or a friend of a loved one who is, your support this month is needed. So, that is why for the rest of this month I am offering my pink women’s shirts for only $5 (plus shipping and handling). 100% of proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. UFC Fighter Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy to
Aid in West Memphis Three Defense Fund
Dan Hardy fights for Justice
May 16, 2011: San Francisco, Calif. — UFC Fighter Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy will be auctioning an autographed poster from his March post-fight party that was held in Seattle, WA to raise money for the defense fund of Damien Echols (who is on death row), Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley, Jr.—also known as the West Memphis Three (www.wm3.org) —were convicted for murdering three elementary school children in 1994. Since the horrific crimes, DNA from the crime scene and victims was tested by the country’s most trusted crime lab, and none of it matches these three unjustly imprisoned men. For three weeks starting December 5th, Judge David Laser will be holding an evidentiary hearing for the three men.
The auction will last for 18 days—from May 16th to June 3rd—one day for each year the West Memphis Three have spent behind bars. June 3, 2011 will mark the 18th year anniversary that Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley Jr. have been behind bars for a crime they did not commit.
“Everyone deserves a fair trial - race, religion and personal tastes are irrelevant; it’s facts and evidence that matters. This seems like a witch hunt and a collective opinion as opposed to a real trial, and in the 21st century, this is not how things are done,” says Dan Hardy. “The justice system is what we rely upon to protect us and protect our peaceful society. When something like this happens, we need to question its approach and see if we can’t improve so these things won’t happen again. No authority is above question because no authority is perfect. I think this proves it and it’s our responsibility to our fellow humans, to speak out when something is wrong.”
The starting bid for the posters has been set at $20
