Bid on my after party poster at Skeleton Key Auction

UFC Fighter Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy to
Aid in West Memphis Three Defense Fund
Dan Hardy fights for Justice

May 16, 2011: San Francisco, Calif. — UFC Fighter Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy will be auctioning an autographed poster from his March post-fight party that was held in Seattle, WA to raise money for the defense fund of Damien Echols (who is on death row), Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley, Jr.—also known as the West Memphis Three (www.wm3.org) —were convicted for murdering three elementary school children in 1994. Since the horrific crimes, DNA from the crime scene and victims was tested by the country’s most trusted crime lab, and none of it matches these three unjustly imprisoned men. For three weeks starting December 5th, Judge David Laser will be holding an evidentiary hearing for the three men.

The auction will last for 18 days—from May 16th to June 3rd—one day for each year the West Memphis Three have spent behind bars. June 3, 2011 will mark the 18th year anniversary that Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley Jr. have been behind bars for a crime they did not commit.

“Everyone deserves a fair trial - race, religion and personal tastes are irrelevant; it’s facts and evidence that matters. This seems like a witch hunt and a collective opinion as opposed to a real trial, and in the 21st century, this is not how things are done,” says Dan Hardy. “The justice system is what we rely upon to protect us and protect our peaceful society. When something like this happens, we need to question its approach and see if we can’t improve so these things won’t happen again. No authority is above question because no authority is perfect. I think this proves it and it’s our responsibility to our fellow humans, to speak out when something is wrong.”

The starting bid for the posters has been set at $20

Revolver Golden Gods Awards

For those of you that don’t know, I was nominated for Most Metal Athlete for Revolver’s Golden Gods awards at the Nokia Theater in LA. Sadly, I did not receive the award. However, it was a great honor to just be nominated and to be in the presence of so many rock legends. Walking the carpet with the likes of Alice Cooper, Geezer Butler, Vinnie Paul, Rob Zombie (I can’t even name them all), was a true pleasure. And it was great to see my fellow fighter, Josh Barnett in the house. Maybe one of these days an MMA athlete will take home the award! Also, finally got to meet Jamey Jasta from Hatebreed. Always loved his bands for training. A big shout out to him.

Many thanks to Revolver for the support and nomination and to all of you that voted for me!

To be from Boston is to have an affinity for Blood For Blood. Founded in the mid 90′s as a rough and tumble band, Blood For Blood violently shook Boston and ultimately the world, from its deep hardcore sleep. In their first formidable years Blood For Blood bonded together hardcore kids, punks, skinheads, bikers, and other social misfits through their gruff working class songs. Establishing an underdog legacy that is now over fifteen years deep and still going strong.

Blood For Blood songwriter and visionary Rob Lind recently stated “…I am presently hoarding the biggest glut of material in my life. And I can’t wait to get to work on it.” If that’s any indication, a new chapter of outlaw anthems are looming on the horizon.

Blood For Blood are scheduled to play dates in the U.S. and Europe throughout 2011. Blood For Blood 2011 consists of the longtime core of Buddha, guitarist Rob Lind, and bassist Ian McFarland, along with drummer Neal Dike. Special guests Billy Graziadei (Biohazard) and Craig Silverman (Only Living Witness) will lend their guitars to live shows in Lind’s absence from the stage due to personal reasons.

And sometimes it’s about giving…

I just wanted to thank everyone that was able to join me for my after party at El Corazon. We were able to raise about $2000.00 for the West Memphis 3 Legal Defense Fund. Without help from the people that donated, this case would not be able to continue to be open for a fair trial. I am so happy that I have such great fans willing to give their money to such a noble cause.

Today I was reminded that sometimes it’s about giving. We received an email from Lorri Davis, Damien Echol’s wife:

“Dear Dan:
I’ve been informed of the wonderful things you’ve been doing to help the Defense Fund - and to spread the word about this injustice. I can’t thank you enough for taking time out of your busy schedule, and for being so very generous. The funds you raised will go toward preparation for the hearing in December. We have much work to do, and not much funding to do it, so your support couldn’t have come at a better time.

Thanks again for everything, and good luck out there! Most sincerely, Lorri Davis & Damien Echols”

Thank you Lorri and Damien for being an inspiration and a reminder that in bleak times there is always a light to guide us home. I am truly humbled by your dedication and perseverance.

The West Memphis 3 still needs our help. To donate, please go to the WM3 website
