Video update from the Telegraph

I meant to post these earlier, but as you can imagine, things have been busy winding the training camp down, and heading to London today.

Gareth Davies interviews me on many things in a video interview series.

My thoughts on Mike Pyle vs. John Hathaway: click here to view the video
My thoughts on wrestling in the UFC and my fight with GSP: click here to view the video
Again, my explanation of my view on wrestling: click here to view the video

Many thanks to Gareth Davies and the UK Telegraph for their continued support for me and UK MMA

New Evile “Infected Nations” reissue from my friends at Earache Records. If you haven’t heard of these guys, you need to, and they’re on tour soon with Gamma Bomb and Bonded by Blood (another two great bands). Had the pleasure of going to their offices in Nottingham last week to pic up some new vinyl! Thank you Ali and to all the team at Earache for your continued support!

Vote for me: World MMA Awards

mmaawards

I’ve made the shortlist for International Fighter of the Year at the World MMA Awards alongside Aoki, Overeem, Hathaway and Sotiropolous. You’ve got 54 days to put your vote in for me. It’s an honor just to be nominated, but it would be even better to get the award!

What’s In MY Bag?

Hi guys,

I recently had the pleasure of doing Amoeba Music’s “What’s In My Bag.” For those of you that don’t know Amoeba, it’s one of the best record stores in the country. Two floors, wall to wall with everything you could ever want. They let me wander the shop for hours, picking out some of my favorite CDs and some new ones, and then they interviewed me about my selections. It was good fun, and god knows I love record shopping. Sometimes training camp gets a bit routine, so myself and Team Rough House are always looking for new tunes to keep us focused. Click here to watch the video on their site.

Cheers,
the Outlaw

Update from 2 weeks out

Taking a quick break from UFC 120 media day in London today. For those of you that don’t know about media day for the fighters, it’s an entire day of interviews, photo shoots, and press, which always gets me even more hyped for the fight.

Picked up my sponsor car from NK Motor Group in Derby yesterday. Nice KIA Cee’d CRDi in Black. 62 mpg! and a big boot for all my training stuff! Big thanks to Sanjeev Kumar and his team over there for the local support. Don’t be surprised if you locals see me hoping around Nottingham in it.

In other news, Xyience has release a brand new signature T-Shirt designed by yours truly. I know art school would come in handy. It’s kind of my take on the recognizable Exploited T-Shirt (love that band).  For my UK friends, I know they don’t ship internationally, but we should have some available for you guys in my own web store soon. They will also be available at Xyience appearances with me. Click here to get it through their webstore.

A lot of you have been writing and tweeting about my bandanas for this fight. Yes, we will have new ones! I promise. I like to do things myself, so you guys know they are coming from me, and you can imagine, things get kinda crazy around this time. But we should have some up in the next couple weeks. For now, go see my friend Noel at Fight Mafia where you can purchase my current bandanas.

Training is awesome. Ollie Richardson (Fighter Strength) and Steve have me knackered, but fit with ammunition, on a regular basis. And Team Rough House are with me every step of the way. And no, I’m no revealing my secret weapon on this one, so you guys can stop asking! That’s why it’s a secret!

Ok, back to media day. I’ll be continuing to post on here when I can.

Oi oi!

Just Cause MMA Seminar Series: coming to a city near you!

justcause_images

Hey guys, starting shortly after my fight, I’ll be doing a nationwide MMA seminar tour of the US with Roger Huerta and Scott Epstein. I’ve done lots of seminars in the UK, but until now, not really too many in the US. So, I’m looking forward to seeing new faces (and old ones). If I’m in your city, and you train sign up! Or even if you don’t, come by at least! And if you can’t come by, recommend me some good places to eat in your home town. I won’t be dieting!

See the Just Cause MMA website for more details and dates. I’ll be updating my website “Events” section soon with all of them.

“JUST CAUSE MMA SEMINAR SERIES is a series of MMA training and participation seminars. SERIES #1, featuring Dan Hardy, Roger Huerta & Scott Epstein, begins in Nashville, TN on November 5, 2010. The first series will hit 39 Markets in 47 days. Each seminar will be 6 1/2 hours long.

Partnering with local gyms and Martial Arts establishments, JUST CAUSE is bringing the athletes to you. We look forward to seeing you out there.”

Update from 5 weeks out

Everything is going really well! Training camp is feeling positive. Weight monitoring is going well, so I treated myself to fish and chips tonight with curry sauce and mushy peas.

Been buying a lot of records recently and just kinda throwing myself head first into music from the 60′s and 70′s: Doors, Bob Dylan, The Who, The Beat, The Police, The Beatles, etc. etc. Stuff really does sound better on vinyl.

It seems my last column in the Evening Post has stirred up quite a reaction on the forums. It’s nice to have people agreeing with me for once. Just to be clear, and for those of you that didn’t read the original article, I wasn’t having a dig at wrestling in MMA, I just find it frustrating watching fights where people are not trying to get the finish. Clinging on to someone for 15 minutes is just like running away from someone for 15 minutes, in my opinion.

Good to Ross Pearson at Fight Night 22. Black ribbons all around for Cole Miller. Hahaha =)

Blunt Force Trauma - new book about cage fighting

By photographer, author, and friend, Lee Whitehead. It was an honour to write the forward for this great record of our history.

“Blunt Force Trauma is the unique story of Mixed Martial Arts as seen through the lens of fighter/photographer Lee Whitehead, who has followed the meteoric rise of the sport. His knowledge and experience put him in an unrivalled position to capture both the savagery and ferocity they exhibit in the cage, as well as a side of MMA that the public rarely sees – the humanity and humility of these modern-day gladiators.”

Click here to visit the Blunt Force Trauma website and find out where to buy this record of amazing photography in cage fighting
